A special dispatch from Brownsville to the Courier, dated the 11th, reports that a spirited attack on Matamoras took place on the 9th instant. The skirmish lasted several hours, the assaulting party, under TAPIA, gaining the advantage, but distrusting CORTINAS, he did not follow up his success.
