S. A. Cain, 92, Conservationist And Ecology Pioneer, Is Dead
Stanley A. Cain, a pioneering conservationist who helped develop the science of ecology and served as an assistant secretary of the Interior Department in the 1960's, died on Saturday at a nursing home in Santa Cruz, Calif. He was 92. Although his academic specialty was botany, Dr. Cain, a Butler College graduate who received his doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1930, broadened his scientific interests considerably beyond the world of plants.
